Dr. Rahul Sharma is a Senior Consultant and Interventional pulmonologist currently working as Additional Director, Department of Pulmonology, Fortis Hospital, Sector 62, Noida. An adept medical professional, he has honed his medical skills through rigorous training from India’s oldest and most prestigious medical institute (Vardhman Mahavir Medical college affiliated with Safdarjung Hospital) from where he completed his MBBS, MD Internal Medicine, and DM Pulmonary, Critical Care and sleep medicine. He achieved this feat by excelling in his department and earning a gold medal for the same during his DM degree pursual. After completing his doctorate, he joined Metro Centre for Respiratory diseases, where he helped in making it a center of excellence for all kinds of respiratory illnesses. He headed the division of Interventional Pulmonology and successfully managed to handle complex pulmonary and critical care patients effortlessly. He gained valuable experience by undergoing training in Advanced Interventional Pulmonology at Academia Singapore General Hospital, Singapore. His area of clinical interest lies in the treatment of difficult control Asthma, Allergies, COPD, Interstitial Lung Diseases, Interventional Pulmonology, Sleep apnea syndrome, Critical Care Medicine, General Pulmonary Medicine, Pleural Disease.
​He is an expert in interventional pulmonology with vast experience in advanced procedures like bronchoscopy (rigid & Fiberoptic) , tracheal stenting, cryobiopsies, Bronchoscopy, Radial and curvilinear Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS), and guided TBNAs, thoracoscopy, and bronchial thermoplasty. He has a keen interest in research and academics and is well versed with recent advances in his field. He is actively involved in conducting research studies for advancement in the field of pulmonology like management of severe asthma. He successfully coordinated the teaching and training of DNB students and IDCCM course under the auspice of NBE and ISCCM respectively. He was also instrumental in setting up of interventional pulmonology fellowship at Metro Hospital in collaboration with the Indian Association of Bronchology (IAB).
